Boatswains Pipe, Gold Color

Quick Overview

One of the oldest and most distinctive pieces of nautical equipment is the Boatswain's Pipe (pronounced "bosun's"). In Greece and Rome the boatswain's pipe, or flute, was used to keep the stroke of galley slaves. The Crusaders used the pipe to call English cross bowmen on deck for attack. Later on, it was used to signal different events such as knock-off and the boarding of officials due to its shrill tune that could be heard above most of the activity on board.
